Main Activities:
1 Reading to children at the Peoria Community Center along with holiday parties for the children.
2.
Purchase and distribute paperback dictionaries to 8th graders being promoted to high school. One thousand dictionaries were distributed this year to students at Title I schools.
3. Cut out and stitch teddybear and puppy dog shapes then they are stuffed by people in an adult day care center managed by Interfaith Community Care. The stuffed animals are given to the local fire department to pass out to children in situations of trauma. Three organizations team together to make this a great community project.
4. For Make a Difference Day we will visit the girls at Mingus Mountain Academy, a residential treatment facility for girls 10-17. We are taking books of poetry to share with them. |
